Ghosts Around the Corner (Weekend Puzzle #229)

This week we are gearing up for the release of Ghost of Thornton Hall for the iPad (and later Android tablets and the Kindle). It launches on Tuesday in the App store! Whoo-hoo! One giant leap for Her Interactive! I'm excited! Finally, a great Nancy Drew game will be available to take along in my bag to show off to random people, and would give me something to do on long driving trips.

Speaking of driving trips, I was out of the office these past two days and out of town. I wish I had a Nancy Drew game to replay with me. I would have liked to play Tomb of the Lost Queen again. Mostly because it has been on my mind with this sale and all:

Are any of you missing this game? It's a great one! I love it!
Anyways, here is your weekend puzzle:

We also have several birthdays to highlight from this past week and upcoming weekend:

"The Captive Curse" Fans

Remember this fan here who made jewelry and a drawing of The Captive Curse? It turns out that she had made two of the necklaces...and sent me one with a lovely fan letter! Check it out!

I was SUPER excited to receive this amazing gift, and instantly showed it off to fellow team members and put it on. I also realized that I was wearing the Monster T-shirt from the shop (which is also available in our very own merchandise store if you so desire to get one). Here's my picture of excitement:

This is really inspiring! If any of you work on Nancy Drew art or see a location that looks like a Nancy Drew location, would you take a picture of it and share it with us? Post the pictures onto our Facebook wall!

"It's UNlocked!"

Today we offered this download from Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall for the iPad:

I love it. For those of you with tablet device that have a lock screen, you may understand how creative it is. I set my "lock" screen to the "It's Locked!" picture of the crypt in the game, and then set my home screen to "It's UNlocked!" which is what shows up after you enter the password.

Is anyone else excited for GTH to come out for iPad? It's releasing next Tuesday!! (For non-iPad users: not to worry, it will be available for the Kindle Fire and Android tablets later.)

As for the weekend puzzle, it sounds like everyone got the [zodiac and moon symbol] references and counted the proper letters in each name. The end result would be this: [Eleven Sevens]. I'm seeing some great guesses to what this means, and some of you have come close, but haven't counted properly...

We have a belated birthday!

Weekend Puzzle #228

Friday has come at last, and doughnuts were brought in to celebrate at the office.
Today, many of the artists were in a meeting, planning out their schedule and new ways of working on the next game. Production department is building up The Shattered Medallion, fixing bugs and puzzles and logic. The marketing team is busy with several different projects, which includes working on the cover art for MED and getting all details ready for the upcoming dates.

I on the other hand will be playing through the game, collecting information and logic-checking the steps I take to provide for the strategy guide.

While you all wait for further news on the next game, here's a little brain-teaser for you to work on this weekend:

Enjoy! (Oh! And don't forget about the Facebook Caption Contest that is still going on this weekend!)

Also, we have a birthday!

Ice Cream Moments

We shared this Nancy Drew moment the other day:

Is it just me, or do you all like to try (as Nancy) every single flavor and food item that is available to you in the games? Sometimes there are rewards for you if you do... like in Alibi in Ashes. Where other games, it can be a punishment to eat too much of everything (like the Koko Kringle bars in Legend of the Crystal Skull).

Yeah. I've got ice cream on my mind. I wish there were an ice cream place just like Scoop in real life.

Are you creative with coming up with photo captions? Head over to Facebook and participate in our Facebook Caption Contest!

Also, check this out below! One of our big fans, Amy Christine, sent in some fan art, showing off some love for Sonny Joon!

I Spy Nancy Drew Books!

This last weekend I took a day trip and had to stop at my favoritist book store. This is why it is my favorite shop in the world:

Their Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys book section is like heaven! Of course,  I did purchase a few rare books for my own collection. See that blue t-shirt on the top shelf? Yep, I totally bought that, too. It features the cover art of my favorite Nancy Drew book: The Sign of the Twisted Candles.

If you are a collector, what Nancy Drew books are you missing from your collection?

By the way, Twitter Quote Contest is on right now!

While the Fans Wait...

While many of our awesome fans eagerly await the arrival of our next game, Nancy Drew: The Shattered Medallion, they keep themselves busy with other Nancy Drew-related things.

This fan on Tumblr posted a video of herself playing the old Nancy Drew theme song on her accordion! Check it out here.

Another fan sent in art of The Silent Spy and The Captive Curse:

What have you been up to as you eagerly await the next game? Have you replayed any older mysteries?

Happy Valentine's Day 2014!

Check it out! Share the love this Valentine's weekend by giving the gift of Nancy Drew! What better way to share the love than with a mystery? Nancy would approve. Shop here.

Also, this Valentine's Day card came in for Nancy:

We have some fan art that came in! Check out Hailey's collage she used for school:

No weekend puzzle this weekend. Instead, might I recommend re-playing a classic Nancy Drew game with a friend? Please note: We will be out of the office to observe President's Day. See you Tuesday!

Bird Photos in Winter

Our office is in a nature park, so we often see all sorts of wildlife around. The other day we spotted a bald eagle perched in a tree.

This reminded me of when we had to take several pictures for Red in Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake. I suppose it would be cool to start a photo collection of all the birds that frequent our park. Just today we watched as a cormorant swim in the slough, catch a fish and then swallowed it whole, which was pretty awesome! Too bad it happened so fast I couldn't get a picture...

What type of birds are hanging around your home this season?

Tweet! (We have a Twitter quote contest happening today, head over to participate!)

Fan letter + GTH News

To show her thanks for winning the cookie contest last year, Rozanna sent us some fan mail. Only this fan mail is really creative: she used magazine clippings and Her Interactive-themed pictures to decorate with! Check it out:

Also, we just shared the date for when we are releasing Ghost of Thornton Hall for the iPad!

Popular Kid on the Block

Her Interactive received a little more attention this last week when we had a vlogger (and now TV show guy) highlighted our latest game, The Silent Spy. Check it out here as I show him around the game!

As for the weekend puzzle, it looks like I can't read my own handwriting. My "a"s look like "c"s... The Sa was supposed to be Sc. Bad detective points for me. So I drew a sad face.

Anyways, the letters were periodic table elements. You can see the solution in the above image. The atomic numbers of the elements translate into the alphabet, which in turn spells out [Team Tui] in reference to our next game.

We have a belated birthday!

Weekend Puzzle #227

It's a beautiful day here at Her Interactive. The sky is blue, the sun is out, it's freezing cold, and the geese are ice skating on the slough.

During lunch today we played board games, as we often do on Fridays. When we get back to our desks, we are busy working on art and logic bugs to get ready for Beta week next week. (Beta is a decent, playable game build, but still has a lot of missing art or details to it.) Once we hit a Beta build it will get busy for me.

Random Picture of the Day: I have the feathered boa and feathers of shame from playing hackysack.
At the moment, I'm snooping through the latest game build files, and working on some merchandise things. What has been on my mind all day, though, is the music from Message in a Haunted Mansion, and wanting to play Treasure in the Royal Tower because it is winter-themed. Will you be replaying a Nancy Drew game this weekend?

Here's your weekend puzzle, good luck!

We also have a birthday!

Also, if you are in college, love Nancy Drew, and know how to edit videos...check this out.

The Season for Rumors

Howdy all! Yesterday was a vacation day for me. We are right in between game launches, so there aren't very many new things to share about the latest game...yet.

There are game launch seasons, holiday seasons, and summertime, but then here at Her Interactive I also like add the "quiet" season. It's really the season for our fans to replay games, get caught up on older games that haven't been played yet, reading Nancy Drew books, and so on. This is the season where we must wait what seems like foreeeeeeever until we get to announce information about the next game.

I was replaying SPY last week. COOKIES!!

In this season for rumors, we leave you with only the teaser for the next game. Well...and replicated images from that teaser which are now on the merchandise store. What are your thoughts or guesses of what MED could be like? Do you have any ideas what sort of characters will be in the game? What Nancy and Greg George will be challenged with?

We have a birthday!

Adventure Games

Every once in a while, to mix things up, we make an "adventure" game. Some of our "adventure games" would include Ransom of the Seven Ships, Danger on Deception Island, and Trail of the Twister. Of course, we also create scary games, and historical or international games, but many games can fit into numerous categories. I wanted to look at what makes one of our "adventure games" an adventure.

Nancy is often sent on vacation to spend time in the area she's visiting, enjoying her time away from a case. Of course, knowing Nancy, vacations don't always go uneventful. Mysteries tend to follow her everywhere! At some point early on, something happens and she is back to work.

In Ransom of the Seven Ships, a vacation in the Caribbean turns into a case when her friend Bess goes missing. In Danger on Deception Island, someone ransacks the boat Nancy is staying on. Nancy can't set these issues aside, she must get to the bottom of what's really going on.

The Shattered Medallion will certainly be an "adventure game". Are you eager for a "vacation"?

Computer Hack

So I found this today...

I don't know if I should be mad or thrilled that a certain someone whom I am a HUGE fan of hacked into my computer and took over my work. I suppose I should be more worried about him leaking information that he *could* have found opened on my computer... we'll see. I'll have to keep a close eye on any of our secrets getting out too soon.

**Edited** Too late. He must have uploaded all of the art from the Flying Cow Productions up to the merchandise store for me. Well, thanks! That saved me a bit of time...even though these images are up a bit early...

Hmm.. on another distracted note...I wonder if I can film anything going on in the office to make videos for later...?

Oh! We had a fan send in some art, so we have to share it with you. The excitement for The Silent Spy is still evident!
